Lost in the Mirror is a short 2D Metroidvania game inspired by the likes of Silent Hill and late 90s horror games.
The 'story' follows a young woman nicknamed 'Frosty', who is apparently on some journey of self-discovery or awareness, that seems to be popular these fine days.
What is interesting is this story is kind of told in the reverse order, as you journey further in you are actually coming back to the root of the main issue. Clever, eh ;).
The game is still in development, albeit very nearly done. Version 0.90. So yeah, nearly done but there are some real stinkers of bugs still existing (largely due to the game being made in an Early Access game engine) more on that below.
Game production stands at 19hours so far. Would like to get it done in less than 24hours total. It's important. Another day, another dollar sort of shenanigan.
Also, much too lazy to make a proper manual. So here's the...

CONTROLS

Uses mouse and keyboard.
Mouse movement - Navigates menus with lipstick cursor
Left click - Press menu button/progresses dialogue
Left key - Move left
Right key - Move right
Shift key - Sprint (Combine with above to sprint left/right)
Enter key - In game Menu
Z key - Attack (low kick) good for breaking boxes
D key - Use weapon (consumes Stamina for melee/ammo for armed)
F key - Interact (Opens doors/picks up items etc and usually prompted)
Why indeed? The main reason is I bought a shiny new game engine and wanted to learn it from scratch but rather than simply having a C: Drive full of 'New Project' or 'Project17' I thought it would be fun to learn it and submit my works in the form of a complete game.
Joining a game jam was the perfect way to do it.
To be brutally honest, no.
The game has a lot of bugs though I am awaiting the dev team behind the game engine to squash the existing bugs to make it properly playable.
As it stands, you CAN play this, but please refer to the KNOWN ISSUES section below to find the answer to the worth question yourself.

Yes so go ahead and try it and get a feel for the vibes if I've not scared you off.
In all honesty this is not a serious project, though I will TRY to do my best to make the full v1.00 release as complete and bug free as I can.
Like I said above, this was a kill-two-birds-with-one stone thing - to learn the engine, have fun and make an end goal of the learning process. Maybe that was three birds then. Got shot, kidder!
Perhaps the bird analogy needs altering - lest angry wildlife conservationists come at me pitchforks in hand. Ahhhhh!!!

- From the main menu, CONTINUE function does not work, ever, period. You just get a black screen. Use LOAD GAME to erm... load your game. There are multiple save slots and I even included some at various stages of the game (because I was too lazy to delete them from the project folder) so avoid CONTINUE and you're good.
- The opening CGI movie will be cropped if you change the game's resolution in SETTINGS on the main menu. It's only like what 7 seconds long and nothing really happens, so nothing major.
-If there is any enemy present when you transition from one map screen to the next, the game will spit an error message and you will be booted out of the game. THIS ONE REALLY STINKS and the one that's causing my hair to thin most rapidly. This one takes top priority so no way I will release 1.00 if this does not get sorted. Temporary fix KILL EVERYTHING!!! That is the only way to fix this, you have been warned.
- Levelling up causes the amount of ammo for your gun to increase. Yeah, I know. BIGGER MUSCLES = BIGGER GUN!!! But seriously I want this one sorted as well. Makes no logical sense at all, even in a game like this.
-Lots of typos because this game engine is Chinese and the localisation is iffy. Nothing too terrible though but random messages might come up when picking up items like abcRAISED255 or something. Just laugh and ignore it.
-Trying to interact with other stuff an enemy hits you and kills you will screw stuff up. Again as above, try just kill everything to do other stuff in a peaceful environment if you can.
-Whew... other than that try enjoy the game ok?

nice

Hey I just got to the first door and I think it told me the code but it wont pop up with the hint again.

Hi and thanks for playing!

Yes that does seem to be a bug, one of quite a few in this game I am afraid and I am awaiting an update in the engine it was made in before I can fix things on my end.

You're very welcome. Thank you for the response and explanation.
